White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday every effort to damage the northern Irish agreement would not create a conducive environment for trade talks between the United States and the United Kingdom.

As a member of parliament, the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss introduced the law to cancel the northern Irish protocol, which was part of the British withdrawal agreement from the European Union. This prioritizes protecting the 1998 Agung Friday Agreement, or Belfast Agreement, for peace in the British -managed territory.

There is no formal relationship about trade talks between the US and the United Kingdom and the northern Ireland protocol, as we have said, but efforts to cancel the northern Ireland protocol will not create a conducive environment, “said Jean-Pierre.

On Tuesday, the White House said the US President Joe Biden and Truss “discussed their joint commitment to protect the benefits of the Belfast/Friday Agung and the importance of reaching an agreement negotiated with the European Union in the Northern Irish Protocol.”

Biden, who often spoke proudly of its Ireland roots, insisted that Britain did nothing that could endanger a quarter of a century of peace in Northern Ireland. Both leaders can meet immediately after the US General Assembly then in September.

Truss won the leadership competition for the conservative party which ruled on Monday and took over from Boris Johnson as Prime Minister on Tuesday, when Britain faced a series of most frightening challenges in decades.
