The Afghan Taliban has appointed a senior veteran to the minister’s finance posts and the Minister of Defense, two group members said the Reuters news agency reported quoting local media.

The Taliban formally announced an appointment, which a commander said was a while, but the news agency Pajhwok Afghanistan said on Tuesday that Gul Agha was crowned the Minister of Finance and Sadr Ibrahim acted the Minister of Home Affairs.

Meanwhile, China said it has established “communication and open and effective consultation with the Afghan Taliban,” after a meeting between the group representatives and the Beijing Ambassador to Kabul, according to the Associated Press.
