Orange warning was heard on the idukki dam at 7 am Monday after the water level in the reservoir touched 2396.86 ft. The full reservoir level is 2403 feet.
The death toll after floods and landslides in Kerala rose to 27 on Monday because more corpses recovered from the bottom of the debris in Kotottickal in Kottayam and Kokkaya District in the neighboring idiski district.
According to state government leaders, while 13 bodies were recovered from the hit area of landslides in Kotottickal Panchayat, nine were taken from the Kokkay. Monday morning, when the rain operation fell and rescue again in the Kokkaya, the seven-year-old Sachu Shahu body was the last found. Rescue surgery occurred to find the existence of Ancy, a woman who was lost near the area where the Pancrayat office was during a landslide.

Ernakulam collector Jafar Malik said on the electric board of the state of Kerala (KSEB), which manages the dam and produces strength from it, has said that the surface of the water in the dam is likely to touch the red warning rate of 2397.86 feet on Monday night and the level of the upper rule 2398.86 foot on Tuesday.
Malik added that the state-level expert committee will study the water content and provide appropriate directives to Ernakulam and Idukki Administration. If the dam gate is needed to open on Tuesday to release excess water, the time and amount of water to be released will be delivered first to people in areas close to the river. The gate of the Kakkki Dam in the Pathanamthitta district opened at 11am after the water surface touched 983.5 feet after heavy rain in the reservoir water catchment area. The maximum level in the reservoir is 986.33 feet.

Rainfall is expected to be continued from Wednesday again, courtesy of fresh spells from Eastern waves which tend to affect parts of South India. The IMD has expressed a yellow code warning in 11 of the 14 districts that day.
